AMERICAN SONGWRITER PREMIERES MUSIC VIDEO FOR “THE HIGHWAY SONG” FROM MIDNIGHT NORTH
NEW FALL TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED
Head over to American Songwriter today to watch the exclusive music video premiere of “The Highway Song” from California Americana-Rock band Midnight North. “The Highway Song” is the first single from Midnight North’s recently released full-length album, Under The Lights. The video boasts deft lead guitar, sweeping harmonies, and country-tinged vocals while personifying to the viewer how it feels to be on the open road. Watch the full video HERE.
Elliott Peck, lead vocalist and songwriter of “The Highway Song” tells American Songwriter that the tune “was inspired by a particularly beautiful stretch of country that follows the Shenandoah River across the Mason Dixon line, as well as the new people, places and venues I experienced on my first time touring the east coast. The song to me evokes the feeling of longing after you've experienced a beautiful moment. The moment is gone but you are never the same after having experienced it.”
“As more and more of our songs from Under The Lights started coming together as a collection,” recalls frontman Grahame Lesh, “we started seeing the outline of a theme for the album. Each song had it's own story, but together the album forms our story about touring the country together for the first time and the excitement of bringing our music to people farther away from home. So for this video, we wanted to put our best foot forward and show off what we're about - which starts with a look at how we travel but also includes (but is not limited to) our big harmonies & cute animals. Unfortunately, having the dog travel with us is aspirational - Butters usually has to stay at home with his dog sister Starbuck when I travel with the band... But maybe one day!”
The release of “The Highway Song”, and its ode to life on the road, is perfectly timed as Midnight North have also just announced the dates of a fall tour. The upcoming run kicks off with an appearance at LOCK’N Festival featuring collaboration performances with members of Midnight North plus Bob Weir and Phil Lesh of The Grateful Dead. The route weaves down the coast of the Northeast, dips into the Flatirons of Colorado, and lands the band back to their hometown of San Francisco, CA for a performance at The Great American Music Hall - a venue that Midnight North has consecutively sold out during their last two performances.
Under The Lights is currently available for purchase on Apple iTunes Music, Amazon, BandCamp, and all major retail outlets. For more information on Midnight North please visit http://midnightnorth.com/ or www.masonjarmedia.com/midnight-north.
